All you need is Love in Rishikesh...

In 1968 The Beatles along with Mike Love, Mia Farrow, Donavon, and others traveled to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Ashram in Rishikesh. During the stay they composed around 24 songs. . Most of the songs composed in India are on the White Album and some are on Abbey Road.

However they left due to rumours of inappropriate behaviour by the Maharishi, and wrote 'Sexy Sadie' (originally named "Maharishi" but changed to avoid libel) about the Maharishi.

The Ashram is now totally in ruins, the eerie buildings have a haunting feeling. The walls are covered in travelers graffiti declaring love to the Beatles or love to others in many languages...

The Ashram is suppose to be off limit's, however the locals will sneak you in for 40 rups.
