Tesfay's source for her work often references, among other things, architecture and informs the viewer of her interest in 21st century landscapes. ''Knowing the language of paint and how it behaves with the canvas is vital, I'm harnessing and controlling my ideas by learning technique. I can't always follow my instincts, i must calculate some of my actions, stay in control, otherwise things stop making sense.''
